The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nevada)

I end up in Las Vegas regularly enough for conferences.  Usually where I stay is driven more by convenience and the conference itself (location, location, location).  Regardless of where I stay though, I always try to check out a new spa.  You know my motto – “sooooooo many spas, so little time”.  So, until I worked my way through all the spas in Las Vegas I try to also try somewhere new.

Any time I try out a new spa, be it Las Vegas or anywhere else, I look to the signature treatments.  Signature treatments are what the spa is identifying as being unique to their spa.  It is a way to distinguish them from other spas. It is in essence a treatment that they are willing stake their reputation on.  Its for these reasons that I usually choose the signature treatment when trying a new spa.  I am after all, reviewing and assessing their spa so, it seems logical to go with something that is what they do best.   My second reason, is because it usually is unique and a little different which again, I like to  try something new, given how many spas I review.  I know, champagne problems.

So, for the Mandarin Oriental right off the bat, I saw their digital wellness.  Yes, my friends, digital wellness, which I have previously blogged about, is turning into services.  At the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas, they have a Journey into Stillness.  This treatment is designed to slow down, support mindfulness and find inner peace. All things I fully embrace, so I was tempted to try this treatment.  In fact, if I am not mistaken it is the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas that does a “Silent Night” during the holiday season where staff and guests can just be silent.

I did check out the Tailor made treatments to see what else they offered.  The first item listed was the Earth Dog Treatment.   This treatment was inspired by the Year of the Dog, (the Lunar year), and is only available until February 4, 2019 when the year of the Dog ends.  So this I just had to try.  It was definitely unique.  It draws on Mandarin Oriental’s Asian heritage, and won’t be around the next time I am back in Vegas.  Besides, given the time I have spent in Asia and going to some spas over there, I was curious to see how this service would compare.  More on the service, in an upcoming blog.

I tried twice to book online, but never received a call back.  So, I ended up needing to call to book my appointment, but that went well, and was a pleasant conversation.

Upon entry, this spa is different then any of the other Las Vegas spas that I have been too.  (See #SpaBucketList)   The spa is not on a lower level or tucked away in back of the casino somewhere without window.   The lobby is up on the 8th floor, with treatment rooms on the 9th.   But the locker rooms and lounge areas are so light and airy.  They have floor to ceiling window with views of the surrounding casinos and Las Vegas Strip.  The locker rooms were spacious enough that you weren’t on top of everyone else which I sometimes find.

And there were plenty of places to relax as well as plenty of hydrotherapy options for pre -and-post-service.

I have been disjointed by other Spas at Mandarin Oriental in the past. However, the Spa at the MO Las Vegas, did NOT disappoint.   This is definitely one of my top spas in  Las Vegas.  My only regret is that I did’t give myself more time at this spa.  With my conference schedule and dinner plans, and travel plans, my appointment was pretty close to closing, so while i did get to enjoy the facilities beforehand, I did not have as much time after.  But that was my own scheduling conflicts!

I recommend this spa to anyone who is in Las Vegas.  It is truly an oasis from the rest of the Strip.  I will definitely be back even as I try out new spas in Las Vegas as well.  This is spa is worth it!
