Demai Spa for Peaceful Harmony
Spa time can be very helpful to combat jetlag, especially when traveling to Singapore. It’s a secret that I have learned in all my spa travels, and I do credit a spa therapist in Vegas with first pointing out to me the healing properties of a spa facilities after a long flight. Just using the facility without scheduling a treatment can be beneficial. Most spas have day passes to the fitness facilities that includes use of any steam room and sauna rooms. If they have Himalayan salt rooms or stone lounges, these can be very grounding and help post jet lag.
For a trip to Asia, and in particular Singapore, some spa time is almost essential. For me, traveling to Singapore is about 24 hours of traveling, starting first with a cross country flight to the West Coast and then from there a 16-hour flight to Singapore. The airlines will be bringing back the direct flight from Newark, NJ to Singapore in another year or two, but that flight is still 19 hours long. So, it definitely helps after such a long haul to schedule some time to at the very least visit the facilities, but even better if you can get a massage to work some of the kinks that come from airline seats for hours on end.
Top Spa in Singapore
Demai Spa is one that came up as one of the top-rated spas in Singapore. I did not visit it on my initial visit to Singapore, as I instead went to Banyan Tree, which you can read about here. But on my second visit to the city, it was time to check out another spa, and so I chose Park Hyatt.
Demai means peace in Indonesian. Indonesian is a nearby country to Singapore, and so its influence is understandable. Demai Spa itself is really about a peaceful harmony that draws inspiration from Singapore. Singapore itself is a fusion of Western and Eastern culture and traditions that blend in peaceful harmony in everything, from food, to fashion, to business and government. That blend is both modern and traditional, honoring the deep cultural ties to Chinese, Malay and Indian and Indonesian cultures. Wealth and Luxury is a big part of the modern lifestyle in Singapore, and that is reflected in the Demai Spa.
Demai Spa is located in the Grand Hyatt Singapore. As you make your way from the elevator to Demai Spa, you are greeted with a lovely little courtyard. Here you have a little spot with the tropical trees and air of Singapore with the cover and shade of the overhead. This is an ideal spot to relax if you wanted to spend some additional time at the spa. The spa does offer a package that includes Afternoon Tea, and I would recommend that with this as an ideal spot to take the tea, in your spa robe, post massage!
Demai Spa
The Spa itself is a testament to their notion of peaceful harmony. It is modern and connected to nature at all times. Healing and Relaxing while distinguishing itself from other spas with refreshingly modern concepts.
They feature a large locker area facility with plenty of hydra-therapy treatments, such as a whirlpool and steam rooms. You know I am big fan of using these pre-massage to help warm up the muscles, making the treatment even more effective, and not mention enhancing the relaxation.
The Wow Factor
But of everything, that thing that impressed me the most was the treatment rooms themselves. Again, in keeping with the concept of peaceful harmony, the treatment rooms all have a wall made of natural stone and featuring a water fountain. Here every treatment room has a connection to nature and the grounding effects of stone, as well as the element of water and the soothing sounds of water. It is thoroughly modern, and unlike any other treatment rooms I have ever been in. I loved it.
Imagine for yourself being immersed in a room like this for a relaxing massage or facial and then after it was over, proceed back to the courtyard for some afternoon tea. How relaxed would you be? How content and connected to nature would you be? You would be fully present in that in moment, refreshed and renewed and enjoying the moment. It all awaits you at Demai Spa in Singapore.
