Romantic Spa Getaways: Rest, Relaxation & Romance
Spas are one of the best places for a romantic getaway. They offer an opportunity for rest, relaxation. In that space and time, you find an opportunity to disconnect from daily life, the kids and work and reconnect as a couple and rekindle some of the romance. There’s plenty of activities like hikes, biking or fitness classes to do as a couple. In addition, there are couple massages and treatments. And some spas even offer sessions designed to work on your relationship. And let’s face it, after two long years at home with the family, it’s time to make time to get away as a couple to rest, relax, reconnect, and rekindle the romance.
Here are five spas for a romantic spa getaway:
1. The Lodge at Woodloch
The Lodge at Woodloch is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. It’s set on a secluded property that invites in not only relaxation but an opportunity to be in the moment and fully present with your companion. Their Couples package offers the opportunity to relax and rekindle romance and includes fresh flowers, wine, a couple’s yoga book, chocolate, and bath and body oil. 2. Mii Amo
Sedona is so beautiful land according to local indigenous legends; it is the birthplace of man and woman kind. So, it makes a great setting for a romantic getaway. The casual pace of life at Mii Amo keeps many couples relaxing and spending time with each other disconnected from their devices. I’ve met couples at Mii Amo celebrating anniversaries, and special milestones, as well as Valentine’s Day getaways. There’s plenty of activities, especially hiking to do as a couple, and Mii Amo even offers treatment and sessions to help strengthen your relationship as a couple. 3. Wentworth Mansion
Charleston is considered one of the most romantic cities in America, so it’s the perfect setting for a romantic spa getaway. A spa experience at the Wentworth Mansion is on my list of Top 100 spas in the world. The Wentworth makes for a romantic and cozy setting. You can book s stay in the Mansion Room and the Couples Spa Package which includes a couples massage, champagne, and a candlelight turndown service. 4. Four Seasons Philadelphia
The Couple’s Retreat at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia is a unique experience. It features a Night Spa Experience. Which, nighttime spa treatments aren’t common, but are one of my favorite things. So, this package gives you an exclusive nighttime experience at the spa. You get a private couple’s massage on the city’s most coveted pool deck on the 57th floor. Stunning views of the city, and a private infinity edge pool, champagne and roses are all included in the package.

But as a romantic getaway, you can book the Spa Penthouse and stay in a posh room with a fireplace, balcony, and easy access to spa below. Spa Ojai is a top wellness center in the world, with fitness classes, tennis, and golf. It also has an Artist Cottage with arts and craft projects taught by local artists. Bonus: DIY Romantic Spa Staycation
It can be hard to get away from the kids, but that doesn’t mean you can’t partake. One of my goals with Love to Spa is to make spa experiences more accessible, even if it’s a spa staycation. So, here’s some tips for a romantic spa staycation:
- Time together – the spa getaway creates a physical time together away from your kids and family, etc. That’s why it’s a getaway. So, you just need to be more intentional about creating time for the two of you together away from the kids and distractions. So maybe this is an opportunity to send the kids somewhere else for the weekend. Or you could book a hotel in the city.
- Upgrade your home or hotel – If you read some of these packages, they often include extra touches like fresh flowers, champagne, robes, books, or chocolate. So be sure to splurge and gather some of these for use at home or a hotel.
- Plan activities – Activities to do as a couple on your spa staycation just like you would at a spa. Are there local fitness classes you can take together, or stream at home? Or maybe just some walks in the park, or biking. Maybe a visit to a museum or something else you enjoy. And of course, if staying at a local hotel bring some board games. Remember the point is to turn off your devices and spend time together.
A note to my solo travelers
First, don’t think these are overly romantic spas. I’ve just highlighted romantic packages they offer. All these spas are spas I would go to solo or with a friend in a heartbeat. And some I have gone to solo, with a friend and as a couple.
Summary
Romantic touches like flowers, chocolate and champagne and beautiful settings make for an ideal romantic getaway. But what truly matters is making time as a couple to disconnect from everything and everyone and reconnect as a couple. Rest, Relaxation and Romance is why a spa getaway may be just what you need to rekindle the romance. If you can’t remember the last time, you got away as a couple, then it’s time to book your romantic spa getaway now.
