The Best Spas in Washington, DC

I actually used to live in Washington, DC.   During high school, it was always a dream of mine to live in DC, and so when the time came to apply for jobs after college, I set my sights on DC.  I loved every minute of my time there before ultimately relocating.   One of the earliest spas I ever went to was at the Montgomery Mall.   Of course back then I could only afford to go with gift certificates that my roommates thoughtfully purchased for my birthday or Christmas.   I can’t remember the name of the spa or even if it is still there, since that was 20 years ago. (yeah, I did just kind of date myself there).

But in the summer of 2019 I had the opportunity  to pursue some continuing education at American University.  So naturally, I had to check out the spas while I was in town.   I compiled this list doing my own research and correlating it with rankings across a number of review platforms, as well as local guides and articles and including Best Spas from Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Poll.  These spas consistently rank highly across these various platforms, which is why I compiled them here into one easy list.

Top 10 DC Spas

1. The Petite Spa at The Jefferson

1200 16TH ST NW
Washington, DC, 20036
Toll Free: 1.877.313.9749
Love to Spa’s Take:  They call it the Petite Spa for a good reason.   It really is a petite boutique spa where you can feel like you have your own private spa!   This spa is well worth the visit as well as a stop by the Quill Bar for a post-spa mocktail or cocktail.

2. Wharf Spa by L’Occitane at the Intercontinental Washington, DC

760 Maine Ave SW
Washington, DC 20024
Love to Spa’s Take: If you love L’Occitane products then this is the spa for you.    I particularly enjoyed the lounge area with its views of the Potomac.  Its a nice spot for a spa and then afterwards you have plenty of restaurants and shops at the Wharf.

3. MGM National Harbor

101 MGM National Avenue
Oxon Hill, MD 20745

4. Relâche Spa Gaylord National Harbor

165 Waterfront Street
National Harbor, MD 20745
Love to Spa’s Take:   I have not made it to this spa yet, but I have been to the Relâche Spas at other Gaylord properties such as Gaylord Opryland and Gaylord Rockies.   I do however have a conference this fall (2020) at the Gaylord National Harbor and will definitely be visiting this spa!  See you there!
