Mandalay Bay Spa
The Spa at Mandalay Bay was probably one the very first spas I ever went to in Las Vegas. My very first spa experience in Las Vegas is no longer there, as the Aladdin Hotel became Planet Hollywood. Of course, all this was back in the day before blogs and social media were even a thing.
The Spa at Mandalay Bay meets a number of my requirements:
- A comfortable waiting and relaxation area where you can just relax
- Hydra-therapy treatments, which are spacious, and also invite you to relax and hang out
- Comfy Spa Robes
- And of course, excellent service
If you have been to Mandalay Bay you know that there is a tropical smell that is ever-present, and as you check into the spa you have more of this coconut scent inviting you to relax into the tropical feel. As you enter the locker room and single-sex areas, you hear the sound of water from the whirlpools, again taking you out of your everyday reality and inviting you to relax. And then you change into a comfy knit robe. This robe is not like the robes you are used to at other spas, this robe is like wrapping yourself up into a warm knit blanket.
The Spa
The hydra-therapy treatment area is expansive. The pools feature different temperatures from hot to warm to cold. What I love about this area, is that they have a number of lounge chairs set up in this area. So its usually very easy to find a spot and then you can just relax by the whirlpools and not have a care in the world.
That is until you need to stir yourself to move to the waiting area for your treatment. This waiting area also scores points with me, because it is large enough with enough lounge chairs to hang out here for a while too, if you didn’t want to be by the whirlpools. But you will usually find me down by the whirlpools and then only up in the waiting area ahead of my treatment time.
The spa is used to having celebrities come through it, so again they know what they are doing and the service is just excellent. All you have to do is just relax and enjoy your time at the spa. Easy right?
Service
I had an aromatherapy treatment, as I was recently on a big aromatherapy treatment and comparing different spa’s aromatherapy treatments. Here, different aromatherapy oils were applied down the center spine of the back and incorporated with massage oil in long massage strokes. Each of the different oils supports a different energy in the body. The cumulative effect brings balance to the body and mind.
Overall
The Spa at Mandalay Bay, while it was one of my first, still remains one of my favorite options. While Vegas spas are expensive, I think this spa is reasonable and for what you get, in terms of the facilities and the quality of services it is a good value for your hard earned money. It is a great option for building in some relaxing spa time on your next Vegas trip, especially if you are staying at that end of the Strip.
