Following my Grand Spa Massage the night before, I took the advice of my massage therapist and booked a Deep Tissue Massage. Now, I get deep tissue work done pretty regular from my regular massage therapist (see M-Spa) and I have also written about the Deep Relief Massage at the Lodge at Woodloch. So, i am no stranger to deep tissue. And as a resort spa, they know that most people are there to indulge, treat themselves and relax. So i know they feel compelled to warn people that a Deep Tissue is not for the faint of heart!
And here at the Grand Spa, this was especially true. My therapist was all about the deep tissue and pressure, and I have to admit there were points where even I was about ready to cry “mercy”. But it was exactly what I needed, and it was exactly what I signed on for, and I have no regrets.
Mind you, my crying out “mercy” was more of a hurts so good type of pain. I knew it what i needed and i was not in physical pain. Just that I could tell me areas of knots were caving to the pressure. Of course, no one should suffer through a massage, and any massage therapist will tell you, that you need to speak up if there is every any pain, or if the pressure is too much. Just a word to the wise, go into a Deep Tissue knowing what you are getting.
