What’s your favorite color? What colors are you instinctively drawn to? Do you know what insights those colors can provide about your life? That’s what an Aura-Soma Reading does.
Are you perhaps drawn to different colors at different times? Colors are such a powerful component to our lives. They have the power to influence our moods and emotions. So powerful in fact, companies and advertisers spend millions to choose the right color for a brand or logo. On the other hand, our moods and emotions can also influence the colors we gravitate towards.
That’s what makes Aura-Soma such a fascinating treatment. I first discovered Aura Soma during one of my trips to Mii Amo. Fuchsia pink has always been my go-to color, so it was hardly surprising that every color I picked during my treatment had some sort of bright magenta color in it. But on my latest trip to Mii Amo, I decided to have a new reading, and to my surprise, picked completely different colors. I will get to those colors in a minute, but first, what exactly is Aura-Soma?
Aura-Soma System
Aura-Soma is a healing paradigm that supports an inner knowing through our selection of certain color combinations. The colors call to us, based on what we instinctively need. It is the subconscious self which chooses the colors, speaking to what we need. As founder, Vicky Wall said, “The greater guide is within you.”
Since this is a color-based therapy, it is essentially founded in light, and thus the color spectrum. The system works with the full spectrum of color. Plus, color is a universal language. Not only do humans experience color, but the language of color is something that is alive and at work throughout all of nature. Tapping into that language allows us to consider elements we might not have fully considered before.
Aura-Soma works with the traditional seven chakras, or energy centers of the physical body. However, Aura-Soma goes a bit further, suggesting that for each of those seven energy centers, there are seven different levels that correspond to a minor chakra system at work within each major chakra point. If you are doing the math, that is 49 different color levels, each with their own color vibration and color wavelength on the spectrum. This results in the seemingly endless color combinations of the Aura-Soma come into play.
Equilibrium Bottles
At the core of the system are the equilibrium bottles. These bottles are comprised of two vibrant colors (including a combination of color and clear). The bottles interplay the color energy with the energies of crystals and plants. There is alchemy to these bottles where the plant oils are heavier than the watery extracts of the plants. So the plant oils sink to the bottom, creating the lower half of the color. The watery portion floats to the top, providing the top color. This upper portion relates to the conscious mind and the lower portion relates to the subconscious. Pretty cool, right? Lastly, when you shake the bottle, they form yet another color, a combination of the two distinct color energies merging into one.
These bottles are just as much art as they are fascinating as a healing modality. Imagine staring at a wall of these colorful jewels of bottles. That’s exactly what happens to start the Aura-Soma reading. You take in the vast expanse of bottles and select 4 bottles.
For me, as I stated the first time, it was any number of these vibrant shades of bright pink, sometimes paired with clear, other times paired with turquoise or a brilliant purple. This time however, I was in transition. I had just ended a major phase of my life and taking some time to relax, recover and heal before starting new ventures and a new phase. My days were spent soaking up the environment of Sedona daily with hikes through the red rocks and staring at the beautiful red rock scenery at Mii Amo.
My Reading
Outside the treatment room, at the end of the hallway, there is a wide window with views of those stunning red rocks. On a beautiful sunny day, the light streamed through the window and lighting up the display case of Aura-Soma bottles. I was mesmerized. My eyes were just jumping to different bottles, and I was just trying to honor the old philosophy of what comes to me first – what bottles did I see first? What bottles feel right?
I was really surprised at my color selections, in particular red. Red is typically not a go-to color for me. Staying true to choosing the bottles I saw first, influenced by the sunlight and setting, these red bottles spoke to me. I did comment to the therapist how surprised I was about selecting the red. On some level, I think being submersed and inspired by the red rocks was calling to me. My aversion to red was from the more negative aspects of the color red – fiery, anger aggression. Isn’t it funny that a color which so often symbolizes love, can have such a negative corollary?
I told the therapist that I usually steer away from anger. And yet, as I was winding down my old job, the environment fostered dysfunction and I embodied so much frustration on a daily basis. To suppress my frustration, I “dealt” with it in unhealthy and unproductive behaviors. So maybe there was something to this Red color.
First Color
The B6 bottle is so fascinating to me, because it can indicate frustration, anger, and even a lack of energy and vitality. Which was what I was feeling at the start of my trip. But B6 can also represent energy and a zest for life, an indication of a new beginning, and kundalini awakening. Isn’t that interesting? Wasn’t I at Mii Amo precisely to transition between this old phase and a new beginning?
Second Color
As for B55, the red-clear. The upper fraction, the clear, represents light and the lower fraction, represents earth. This symbolizes a reconciling force, reconciling the polarities within us. As evidenced by the bottle above, wasn’t I reconciling the old life and my new one?
In addition, I had some powerful memories (and emotions) come up from childhood as a result of some energy work I had for a treatment. 30 years of misguided thinking was suddenly being worked out in present day. By discussing this with the therapist, I learned the clear, upper fraction can also represent tears. In a way, Bottle 55 can be about releasing the past and long held misguided perceptions of myself. And again, integrating that into my life as I go forward into this new phase of life.
Third Color
The 3rd bottle is Royal Blue and Magenta. See, I couldn’t completely escape the pull that fuchsia or magenta has on me. Royal Blue signifies seeing ourselves clearly, supporting us to look within. The Magenta significance is fascinating to me. It has a lot to do with how important it is to put our caring, warmth and love into things and beginning to manifest compassion for ourselves. No wonder I have always been drawn to the color, especially as I advocate self-care! This bottle is really about trusting our intuition, opening up to the possibilities and finding deep harmony with ourselves, and the environment. Isn’t this exactly where I am at right now, shifting between two phases of my life?
Fourth Color
Lastly Coral – Coral. I admit, I have always loved this color since a childhood, maybe even more so than my bright pink. Yet, during a different treatment here at Mii Amo, the color of coral came up. There was definitely a theme to my inner healing during this trip, as there always is.
Bottle 87 is a beautiful color, infused with light and joy. Coral is about strength and sensitivity. It is called “Love Wisdom” and expresses our potential to give love and wisdom in the world, a sense of emergence and awakening. And once again, I am in awe of the rightness of the color selections and what they represent and WHERE they represent things.
Order
For you see the order also has significance. The first bottle is connected to our mission, life’s purpose and lessons. The second bottle represents our greatest gifts, and third bottle represents the here and now and the fourth bottle represents what’s next.
It was so powerful to me that some of these colors are spot on, reflective of the past, the present and what’s unfolding as my future. I never knew that the colors I was drawn to could be so insightful.
How to Use the Bottles
If you have selected a bottle (or 4) you can apply the oil daily. The bottle is handled in a very specific way. It is always held in the left hand. The thumb supports the bottom of the bottle and the middle finger the top, along with the ring and index finger supporting the side of the bottle, but the pinky does not touch the bottle. It is easier than it sounds, I promise! You shake the bottle to activate the energies and color properties and watch the two colors combine. Next, you can then shake out a few drops onto the palm of your hand, and rub then together and then apply this liquid to the part of the body that corresponds with the color components.
Are you ready to experience Aura-Soma?
If you happen to be planning a visit to Mii Amo, and you are interested in Aura-Soma, I recommend trying this service. Both Mii Amo and Aura-Soma Treatment should be on your spa bucket list! But if you can’t make it to there any time soon, then you can look for a local practitioner, here. And lastly, if you want to try a DIY version, you can get The Aura-Soma Sourcebook. The last two pages are a full display of the bottles allowing you to replicate the experience of doing it in person.
But I highly recommend finding an in-person experience if you can!
