Nurture. Doesn’t they very word nurture draw you in? It’s really less a word, and more of a concept. You hear the word and thing being cared for. I think that may be one of the reasons I love spas so much, is that your are inherently nurtured and cared for at spa.
Nurture is really about helping something grow in a way that is sustainable. This month is an opportunity to reconnect with the mindset, behaviors and supportive resources and dimensions of wellbeing you need. This is especially true because our endless distractions and the life-changing events and disruption of this year can take you off course from your wellness goals. This is an opportunity for you to reconnect and re-dedicate yourself.
Here are a few ways to explore Nurture this month and reconnect to your wellness:
Self-care
Nurturing your wellbeing can give you a foundation to thrive. Self-care actions can help you live with a sense of balance and resilience. Things such as getting high quality sleep, nourishing your mind, moving your body throughout the day, and be happy.
Nature
Let Nature Nurture. This is the motto for one of my favorite spas, The Lodge at Woodloch. Nature can be extremely therapeutic. While the temperatures are getting colder, and days shorter, being outside may not always be practical, but do it when you can. But you can also let nature nurture inside by incorporating fresh, seasonal organic produce into your meals.
Receiving Mode
Nurture isn’t inherently about doing, but rather receiving. If you have been trying too hard on your goals, and not getting there, and feeling exhausted in the process, perhaps now is an opportunity to reassess. Is there a path of less resistance? Are there elements of your wellness that are easier, or even unfolding naturally? Allow intuition to help guide and shape your direction. You may be surprised at where it takes you, and how much easier the path feels.
Compassion
Wellness, true wellness, is about finding what works for you, not what works for everyone else. That’s the concept of bio-individuality. Learning what works best for you, can be a process, with trial and error. That doesn’t mean that you should blame yourself or see a setback as failure. You have simply learned another facet about you and what work’s best for you and what doesn’t.
Support
As mentioned at the beginning, your wellbeing requires supportive resources. What kind of assistance would best serve you? Who can help you? Asking for help is a strength and not a weakness.
Throughout this month share your moments of nurture with the Love to Spa community. If you have a win to share, or need supportive encouragement, please do so at Love to Spa’s Facebook Group.
