MGM Grand Spa
MGM Grand Spa was one of the earliest spas I visited, and I recently had the opportunity to return to it for this blog. The Spa is a great spa option in Vegas, especially if you are staying at the MGM Grand. The MGM Grand has enough celebrities coming thought it either to perform at the MGM Arena or for fights that MGM is sponsoring. So, the MGM Grand Spa does have to be on it’s a-List game. My manicurist claimed to be preferred manicurist for Janet Jackson when she is town. I will always take that with a grain of salt, but you can get a sense of which spas in Vegas deal with celebrities and which don’t, and this is definitely one of those spas that does. Besides it totally ties in with the whole casino’s theme of the golden days of Hollywood Glam, so why not add a little Hollywood Glam of your own with a visit to the spa.
Stay Well
As a side note, MGM Grand as a casino has a whole set of rooms under the Stay Well brand. I love these rooms. The Stay Well rooms are part of a trend in the hotel industry to increase the appeal to us wellness travels * (anyone who either takes trips for the sole purpose of wellness or partakes in a wellness activity while traveling for work or pleasure). This trend puts wellness at the hands of its guests and usually features innovative in room wellness features. At MGM Grand this includes:
- Air Purification to reduce pollen allergens, mold spores and other microbes in the air
- Non-Toxic cleaning products and UV lighting to reduce bacteria, viruses and other microbes
- Energizing Lighting: a Bright white light which suppresses melatonin, and can help to reduce jet lag and regulate circadian rhythm
- Specialized Lighting: Including a dawn simulator to gently wake you, energizing light to suppress melatonin and reduce jet lag, and long wave night lighting to minimize sleep disruption. This actually is the same alarm clock I have at home!
- Stay Well Shower Infuser which Reduces chlorine to keep hair and skin soft and smooth. I LOVED this infuser!!!
- Stay Well Mattress:Natural memory foam for optimal support and comfort
- Stay Well Mobile App with information about in-room features, a Jet Lag tool and complimentary Cleveland Clinic Wellness programs
Back to the Spa
I’ve digressed from talking about the spa, but I am a big fan of the Stay Well rooms and thought it was worth mentioned. As for the spa, The MGM Grand Spa now also features a Stay Well massage, which includes a specially designed treatment room which features circadian lighting, an immersion bed, and Moving Art Videos aimed to reduce stress while getting your massage. I haven’t tried this one yet, but I have my eye on it for a future return.
What I Loved About The Spa
Of course the spa therapists are world class and friendly. The Service menu has plenty of options. The spa is a nice place to take a break from all your Vegas fun. The waiting lounge is large enough that if the spa isn’t crowded you probably could comfortably hang out for a while and relax in this space. It really is a nice place to spend some time.
I don’t often get a manicure in Vegas, as its something I usually get before I travel. But on a recent (June 2019) trip, I didn’t have a chance and so I scheduled a manicure last minute. It was here that I first discovered the Dazzle Dry Nail Polish line. This is a new line that is quickly taking the industry by storm, and I was impressed that MGM Grand Spa had it in its spa. I think it speaks to the caliber and reputation of the spa. Again, if celebrities are coming through MGM Grand, then the spa has to be on it’s A-List game!
What I Didn’t Like
The water treatment facilities in the locker area are a little lacking in my opinion. There is a whirlpool tucked in a corner, and maybe 2 lounge chairs by it. So, its not a place to hang out and use the features. The spa just hasn’t chosen to focus on hydrotherapy and that is ok.
Overall
So my take is that if you are staying at the MGM Grand, and you want a spa service, and you just want to take a little time for that and get right back to your Vegas fun, then I think this is the perfect spa for you. You have the convenience of visiting the spa in the casino. The therapists are lovely and highly skilled. And they have a large selection of services to choose from. The spa is really suited to coming in for a treatment and then getting right back to your Vegas fun. This spa would also be great for a spa visit as part of a bachelorette weekend.
However, if you really want some down time and spend a little more time relaxing and enjoying the facilities, then I think some other spas in Vegas, such as Mandalay Bay and the Waldorf Astoria or Canyon Ranch would be for you.
