Spa Notes: The Spa at The Hotel Hershey
Not every spa memory is about the spa.
Sometimes it’s about the person sitting beside you in the lounge.
A friend and I had been talking about taking a girls’ getaway for quite some time. Like many good travel plans, the idea evolved over a series of conversations—from a weekend away, to a spa weekend, and eventually to Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The destination made perfect sense. Hershey is known for creating experiences around celebration, indulgence, and fun, and a chocolate-themed spa felt like the perfect excuse to escape everyday life for a few days.
At its heart, The Spa at The Hotel Hershey is designed to complement a larger vacation experience.
Unlike destination spas that serve as the primary reason for the trip, Hershey functions as a resort spa. Guests come for family vacations, sporting events, theme park adventures, girls’ weekends, and special occasions, and the spa offers an opportunity to slow down, relax, and add a little pampering to the experience.
There is something to be said for that.
Not every wellness experience needs to involve a life-changing retreat in the desert or a week-long immersion in healthy living. Sometimes wellbeing looks like carving out a few hours with someone you care about and giving yourself permission to relax.
Of course, Hershey embraces its most famous ingredient.
Chocolate appears throughout the spa experience, from signature treatments to themed offerings that connect guests to the town’s iconic heritage. It creates a playful atmosphere that feels approachable and celebratory rather than overly serious.
For mother-daughter trips, girls’ weekends, couples’ getaways, and visitors looking to add a special touch to a Hershey vacation, the concept works remarkably well.
Who Thrives Here
The Spa at The Hotel Hershey is especially appealing for the Glow Getter and the Radiant Recharger.
Glow Getters often enjoy the indulgent atmosphere, beauty-focused treatments, and celebratory energy. Radiant Rechargers appreciate the opportunity to step away from busy vacation schedules and spend a few restorative hours focusing on themselves.
It is also an excellent choice for first-time spa guests who want a welcoming and approachable introduction to spa culture.
What This Spa Teaches Us
One of the lessons I’ve learned over years of spa travel is that the most meaningful wellness experiences are not always the most luxurious.
Sometimes they are the most personal.
A treatment eventually ends.
A beautiful relaxation room eventually empties.
But the memories we create with the people we love often stay with us far longer than any spa service ever could.
For me, that became the lasting lesson of Hershey.
Why It’s in My Little Pink Book
The Spa at The Hotel Hershey earns its place in my Little Pink Book because it reminds me that wellness is often about connection.
The trip itself was wonderful, but what makes it unforgettable is the person I shared it with.
My friend Kate and I spent time together, laughed, relaxed, and created memories that neither of us realized would become so precious. Not long after our visit, Kate was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and later passed away.
Looking back, our weekend at Hershey became the last trip we would ever take together.
Today, when I think about The Spa at The Hotel Hershey, I still remember the chocolate treatments and the time spent relaxing together. But more than that, I remember friendship, connection, and the gift of shared experiences.
And that may be the most important form of wellbeing of all.
